    Today's Post

Today's Dryuary post was written by Reid Hester PhD, a long-time advocate of moderation and MM and the creator and Research Director of Checkup and Choices. It can be hard as hell to find programs that support you while you're reducing your drinking as opposed to quitting completely. Checkup and Choices is one of the few programs out there that offers support on an individual basis. And, the good news is, their program comes with a money-back guarantee!

"The program starts with a comprehensive self-assessment and provides twelve weeks of ongoing motivational exercises. The program is available, 24/7 from any connected device and includes drink, mood and urge trackers, guided emails and change plans."
Moderation Management and CheckUp & Choices are collaborating to bring you a confidential . . .

Really enjoyed today's as well (Jan. 16) --so interesting how we seem to follow more or less the same arc in Dryuary -the gearing up, ambitious start, the muddling through, the clarity buzz or pink cloud of third week, the wondering what comes next in week 4...

How are you kary may ? Hope the month is going well for you . Come visit us in the private message board sometime! I always so enjoy your posts

Thanks for asking 3733 . My Dryuary is going great. Although I'd only been exploring moderation for 6 months, it's nice to be reminded of the beautiful simplicity of totally absing.

Such a wonderful way to put the best effect of Dryuary, I think.

I have to say.. Although going dry for January has gone bust for me, I am learning a bit from moderating that I never realised before. For example, I've started to realise how alcohol affects me the next day. I realise that the days after abs, I have energy and motivation and today after having a few beers last night, I'm super tired and feel blah. I have no motivation to do anything today. I got plenty of sleep but I could probably stay in bed all day even though I'm not hungover. So, I think I might be ready to do a longer stretch of abs than I have been so far. But I do feel pretty good about the fact this group has helped me cut my drinking pretty much in half so far. Thanks y'all for being here!

Half is huge, Kaykay! Congratulations on that, and also on sticking with looking at your drinking, being honest with yourself about how it makes you feel and about how you feel about that. That's such precious work. It's going to be fun to look back on this phase, awhile from now, and remember this month as the one you started down a new path. Good luck on this journey!

Kaykay , you've experienced something very valuable. For most of us, feeling tired and unenergetic becomes normal. we don't even know what we're missing. An extended abs period shows us what we're missing and we will find ourselves wanting to keep that energetic. Whether we recognize it or not, we are forever changed.

MM will be hosting a Moderation Month in February where we focus on the basics of MM and, depending where you're starting from, figure ing out how you want to approach drinking again after Dryuary or, if you did not do Dryuary, how to work towards successful moderation one tool or step at a time. Unfortunately, at this time, it will only be available as an event for those who are members of our MM FB group but the plan is to use this as a pilot for a bigger Moderation Month later this year, perhaps April or May. If anyone is interested in the January event, they will need to join the MM Facebook Group to be invited to the event. The reason it is only offered on facebook right now is because it is simple to set-up a facebook event, whereas an event like Dryuary, or the proposed Moderation Month, requires setting up a website and figuring out how to send out daily emails plus much more and we don't have that ready to go yet.
