  • Day 4 post

Kary May - Thank you for this morning's beautiful e-mail message. I was in tears at the end of it. I will keep the image of the V with me this month.

Thanks for that inspiring post, kary may. It's a great visual image to keep in mind when I feel like giving up and plummeting into the ocean. I'm feeling good on Day 4 and hope everyone else is, too. Having a hard time falling asleep at night, and having crazy dreams about alcohol -- but I'd rather be tired today than hungover! By next week the sleep thing should correct itself.

kary may , Kekohu - I have received three emails because I signed up for Dryuary on the MM site, but I did not receive one today. Now I really want to read your post, KM! Is it possible to resend?

If you sign up for Dryuary at http://dryuary.org/wp/sign-up/ then you should receive daily emails, or like me you can keep up with them online at http://dryuary.org/wp/ or view them all at http://dryuary.org/wp/all-post/.

3733, those second and third links should be what you're looking for too.

You can also follow the links from the twitter feed at https://twitter.com/go_dryuary which has other interesting and relevant articles too.

So I started early and am on day seven. Cruising right along until today, and Iím having a really hard time battling my urges. I donít have a whole lot of tools in my arsenal, as Iím really new to this, but Iím trying to give it some time to pass. This is where overconfidence gets you I suppose, lol.

hpegrl the urges are very real, they are not something that you have conjured up and should be able to ignore, they are not going to let you ignore them. The only thing you can do is not give in to them. Some people find it helpful to stay busy, others prefer to just sit with them and ride the waves of them. For me, I just did things, went for walks, played on the computer, read sober message boards or blogs, went for more walks, ate lots of anything I wanted, took long baths and then when I'd run out of things to do, I'd go to bed. They do fade, they probably won't fade entirely in a month, but if you can come up with a new routine that doesn't include them, they will step back and not bother you as much. It is pretty difficult to stay in your same old routine in which they were a part and not miss them.
                  Hope that helps.
